2. Reading is Sexy

Reading is sexy

Reading is sexy

I myself haven’t been spending much time in libraries these days. I mean I like my Juxtapoz and Rolling Stone and I scan the Yahoo! News front page every so often during the work day but other than that I’ve kind of dropped the ball when it comes to reading. But that doesn’t mean YOU shouldn’t flirt with the written word. Oh yeah, reading is so very sexy.

1. Are You Strong Enough To Be My Man?

Bumblebee Loves You

Bumblebee Loves You

Sheryl Crow wrote eloquent lyrics but I don’t think I could have said it any better than the one and only Norma Jean.

“I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.”

Say My Name

Say My Name

I recently re-connected with a long-lost friend from back in my soccer-mom days. We went for drinks the other night, she and I, enjoying Moscow Mules, asparagus fries and catching up on each other’s lives. Like me, she has worked hard to put her life back together after a trying divorce and is now successful in her profession and the proud mother of two handsome, healthy, happy sons. Unlike me, she is madly, deeply in love with the man of her dreams. As I listened to her dreamily recount the story of their romance, one thing in particular stood out to me,”He said, ‘Tracy, you are everything on my List.'”

Tracy is not the first person to mention The List to me although she is the first one to state that her man was the one doing the list-ing. My friend Sam keeps telling me I need to be very careful what I put out into The Universe because, without fail, The Universe always delivers. I have been operating under the “I am woman, hear me roar – I don’t need no man” dating strategy and though I have had a few dates here and there, lately I have been thinking Sam might be right. I’m getting exactly what I’m putting out there – a big fat nothing.

Now, let me just say right here and now that while there is always room for improvement, I am very happy with the life I have created for myself. I am content personally, professionally and artistically. I have fantastic, supportive friends and a crazy, loving family but I have to admit that it would be really, really great to have a ‘partner in crime’ to share my life adventures with. So, I did a little Googling on this List thing and it seems Oprah is the Queen of The List. I guess that’s cool. I mean, she is an expert on, like, everything, right?  Why wouldn’t she know about this? Plus she has been with Stedman for, like, a thousand years.  Anyway, according to Oprah, what you are doing is making clear for yourself exactly the person who will be right for you, and in so doing, directing The Universe to send that person to you.

SO, I’ve decided to loosely follow Oprah’s, Tracy’s and Sam’s lead and make my own List. Here on this blog, I will define all the qualities I would like this person with whom I will share my life to have. From family relationships to intelligence, a sense of humor, sex, religion, money, music, books, gardening, food, and on and on — right down to the color socks he wears. And what better way to get The Universe to hear me roar than from the rooftop of the Blogosphere, right?

So, without further ado, here is MY LIST.
